Lin Curtis of Norfolk, the Sussex two wood unbadged champion last year, won the singles title during the second week of the Littlehampton open tournament.

She had a 21-12 win over club colleague Ann Parsons in the final, having earlier produced superb weight to beat another Norfolk member, Jean Croll, 21-8 in the semi-finals in which Parsons led 15-5 after 13 ends and won 21-16 over Megan Woodley of Maltravers.

The pairs final saw June Taffurelli and Peggy Lilleywhite of Witterings win 33-9 against Hazel Horner and Irene Morris of East Preston. In the semi-finals the Witterings pair had won 24-17 over Brenda Mockett and Margaret Went (Norfolk) and Horner and Morris finished 2,2 to win 19-18 over Lin Curtis and her Norfolk club colleague Jean Smith.

An experimental two wood triples was won by Lin Curtis, Angie Johnson and Jean Croll 17-13 over Ann Stockley (Aldingbourne), Lucy Stubbings (Pagham) and Sandra Pickard of Middleton. In next year's tournament there will be a three wood triples.

Barbara Piedot (Pagham) and Keith Hellyer (Hotham) finished 1,1,2,2, to win the mixed pairs final 17-13 over previous winners Sheila and Malcolm Lock of Field Place.

In the semi-finals Piedot and Hellyer had finished 2,1,3 to win 19-18 over May and John Crome of East Preston while the Locks won 17-10 over Eileen and David Griffiths of Arundel.

The 64th Bexhill tournament with £300 for the singles winner gets underway on August 6 .

White Rock's Charles Wright and Steve Jeapes won the pairs last year and, with Peter Cockett of Sidley Martlets, the triples and defend the titles.
