Hastings are urging Sussex to take a closer look at the talents of John Morgan.

The 23-year-old strike bowler impressed by taking two wickets and running out Jack Russell during ten economical overs in the Board XI's defeat to Gloucestershire in the C&G Trophy recently.

Morgan is spearheading Hastings' bid for the Sussex League title and his club skipper Jason Finch believes he could perform at a higher level.

Finch said: "John has got everything to be a very good fast medium bowler but he needs some county coaching.

"He has had the odd second team game but it would be nice to see the county commit themselves fully.

"We see him at Friday's nets but he needs more than that".

Finch and Hastings' opener George Campbell have been selected for an ECB XI to play West Indies under-19s at Horntye Park next Sunday.

Chris Mole, the wicket keeper batsman from Three Bridges, is also in the side.

Hastings are at full strength for the derby at home to Eastbourne today.

Paul Stevens' visitors will be the definite under-dogs even though medium pacer Jon Lord is likely to return looking to add to his 19 wickets in the League campaign to date.

Richard Halsell, who played at Brighton last week, is unavailable this time and Roger Myall will also be missing.

Andy Winston hopes to be back from illness.

Eastbourne struggled at Brighton and skipper Stevens admitted: "The rain saved us that day. We know what to expect at Hastings. If we bat first they will chase any target we can set them".

Leaders Horsham are unchanged and at full strength as they bid to maintain stop slot in what looks to be an intriguing home tussle with improving Brighton and Hove.
