Clymping are back on top of the Invitation League after the battle for honours took another twist.

Their five wicket win at Lindfield sent the hosts down from second spot to fifth while Eastergate's free week saw them tumble from top to seventh.

Clymping skipper Benn Challen, who guided his side in with an unbeaten 58, admitted: "It is very open. I think we can wn it but I won't start boasting too early."

Challen put the hosts in, then saw the away swing of Carl Pierce (5-22) help keep them down to 187-9. John Sellers (75) and Harold Torkington (50) led the scoring.

Opener Graham Blann hit 58 in the reply before Challen finished the job.

Burgess Hill bagged maximum points after dismissing hosts Crawley for 156 with spinner John Franks taking 5-23. Aamer Riaz offered the most resistance with an enterprising 53 not out. Paul Edwards' 52 guided Burgess Hill in with five wickets to spare. Adam Booth cracked 25 off 14 balls.

Findon would have gone top with 28 points at home to previously winless Petworth Park but were instead denied by a superb batting display from Richard Whitcombe.

The reigning champions bagged eight batting points as Anthony Mullen made 50 of their 181-9.

Whitcombe was then undefeated for Petworth on 117 as the visitors won by five wickets.

Southwick had a blast of 6-59 from Paul Grennan to thank for a seven wicket win over Goring which keeps them very much in contention. The visitors were rushed out for 118.

Pagham are also still up there after winning the highest scoring game of the day at Keymer and Hassocks.

John Price hit 87 and Tony Chadd 68 in the hosts' 213-8 but Pagham got them with six wickets still standing. S Dobbs hit 69 and Dave Leaver 53.

Henfield won by seven wickets at East Preston in a contest notable for two century partnerships.

EP's 192-7 included a stand of 112 for the fifth wicket between Simon Locke (77) and Colin Smith (56).

Tim Normington was the mainstay of Henfield's reply with 65 not out. He shared a third wicket partnership of 110 with Will Warne before running him out for 56. Chris Crampton fired 30 in 20 balls at the death.

Ansty's last pair added 76 for the tenth wicket and it proved decisive in putting victory beyond Barns Green.

The visitors were 151-9 when Andy Mott (25) joined skipper Shaun Janman (41 not out) at the crease. That meant Green needed 228 to win and they were soon in trouble at 3-2. Mott completed a fine match by taking 5-45 while Roger Southgate's 53 not out saw Green to 172-8.

Selsey lead division two after Tim Benham and Andy Homer scored 72 apiece in a seven wicket win at Southwater chasing 183.

Pulborough had to settle for a draw at Slinfold after the hosts' New Zealander Shane Gilkinson made 65 of their 230-9. Andy Haines added 42 from 41 balls.

Richard Simmons hit a powerful 74 from 81 balls but Boro never threatened, reaching 191-7.

Horsham Trinity seamer Tim Street sent down ten successive maidens in his haul of 6-47 in the draw with Billingshurst.

There were two centuries at Bognor, where Scott Tipper made 101 for hosts South Bersted and Ken Vickery replied with 102 as Wisborough Green fought out a draw.
