I was very interested to read (Argus, June 19) that Aruthur Bostrum, of 'Allo, 'Allo fame, was to present long-service awards to staff at Help The Aged, Hove.
Arthur must be well used to being mobbed by adoring fans and has surely lost count of the number of times he has been greeted with his famous "Good moaning" catchphrase.
My own experience of fan worship is limited to one occasion in the early Sixties when, following my appearance in a cigarette commercial on television, I was waylaid by a group of teenage girls while travelling on a bus in Brighton.
Buses had conductors in those days and these young ladies pleaded with the conductor to "hold the bus" while they went into a nearby tobacconist to buy a pack of Bachelors for me to sign.
The bus was packed with commuters on their way to Brighton station and no one complained about the hold-up, which could have resulted in missed trains.
