The Lion King is a journey through the story told in the two popular Disney films.

You play the part of Simba, first as a cub and later as an adult lion, travelling the African plains.

You collect coins for life points, gourds to win bonus games at the end of each level and letters to access animated clips from the films.

The clips are a great idea, forming scenes which lead you through the game play and tell the story at the same time to make you keen to keep playing to find out more.

The levels are varied with different viewpoints and objectives, including climb-ing a peak and outrunning a rhino stampede. The hyenas, porcupines and vultures that bar your way can be fought, or avoided.

The game is perfect for younger children.

Price: £34.99 (PlayStation), £24.99 (GameBoyColor).
