It appears there is no escaping the insidious tentacles of the mighty livestock and dairy farming industries.

As vegetarians, my wife and I have been able to feign indifference to the recent various afflictions but it appears we are now all at risk from the dioxins and other dangerous pollutants emitted by the pyres of animals which have been slaughtered purely to protect the export trade in meat and live animals.

Farmers claim livestock farming is essential if we are to maintain a well-manicured countryside but the resulting contamination of the fruit, vegetables and grains we eat and the ground on which they grow is surely too high a price to pay.
