You have accepted the invitation, bought the present, booked a local hotel and the wedding is just a few weeks away. The only problem now is what on earth to wear.

Whether it is a casual or formal do and whether you are looking for classics or high fashion, the web has lots to offer.

Debenhams virtual depart-ment store is a great place to start. Head for the women's department and you will find soft tailoring and stylish separates in the "relaxed formal" selection and Jasper Conran, Edina Ronay and Whistles creations in the designer section, a whole petites and plus sizes range, footwear and plenty of accessories.

The men's department offers a good choice of designer wear, smart jackets and trousers. An extra £2.95 is added to all orders for the standard delivery service which takes four to five working days.

Guys looking for something a bit special might find just the thing at famous London shirt retailer Thomas Pink.

The shirts are arranged into business, casual, leisure, evening (for black tie do's) and, most appropriate for our purposes, formal. This does not mean stuffy, however, as you will see from the variety of collar types available in stripes, checks and gorgeous plain colours, including cerise, red, royal blue, turquoise, pink and yellow.

Once you have chosen, you can either follow their suggestions for a matching tie or choose your own from their vibrant range of woven and printed silk designs (£47 and £37 respectively). Extreme close-ups show you the pattern, and fabric texture, in detail. Add £5 for delivery, which takes two to three working days.

If you do not want to go the expense of a designer outfit but would like something a bit different, how about some affordable French chic, courtesy of La Redoute. For men, there are jackets, trousers, shirts and shoes to put together for a smart but relaxed look.

And for women, the selection is even greater, with dresses, trouser suits, tops, skirts, jackets and shoes. Delivery takes between five to ten days at an additional charge of £2.45.

If you plan to rejuvenate something you already have in your wardrobe, you will need some of this season's accessories. IntoFashion specialises in the hottest bags (how about a baby pink Chepstow bag by Bill Amberg for £119 or a Lulu Guinness for £74?), stunning silk and chiffon scarves and big, bold jewellery, as well as a limited selection of clothing and lingerie.

And a final footnote on headwear: Apart from the odd one here or there, it is difficult, for obvious reasons, to find hats for sale on the internet. This is one item to buy or hire locally.
