I've had an idea for a competition that might be of interest. Readers could put forward illustrations of what they think Brighton and Hove will look like when we approach the middle of the 21st Century.

There must be a lot of people around Sussex who play with graphic packages at home, producing reasonable art, even though they are not professionals. I've created this picture as a

concept of Brighton in 2050, by which time, of course, the air and sea will have become toxic.

As you can see, I'm afraid the West Pier never did get restored and the Palace Pier can now be viewed only from a gallery.

I'm sure others can produce pictures of a better quality.
