Recent letters in The Argus about foot-and-mouth disease over-sentimentalise the animals.

It is very distressing but nature is very difficult to control.

Regarding disease, I should like to remind dog lovers that dog fouling of the parks and pavements is against the bylaws of Brighton and Hove.

The dog wardens should be more active, as some of the parks, where children are entitled to play are disgraced by dog faeces.

In the 21st Century, we should not have to put up with this filth.
