Despite many calls to the appropriate people, street lights, which had been out for more than two months, had not been fixed.

I called The Argus and they took this up with the result that the light was fixed within three days. We owe The Argus much thanks.

The light remained on until three weeks ago when the swan-neck fitment on the lamp was removed, leaving us in darkness again.

After much ringing around, we were told the fitments were only allowed in sensitive areas. The lamp post was live, making it a danger to the public. We were told we would get a fresh light in eight weeks.

I would like to make the point that we should be considered a sensitive area. Preston Village was once a Saxon settlement and should be preserved. This area is full of history and should not be pillaged.
