Sidley centre back Brad Poole was at the heart of proceedings as his side booked their first ever appearance in the John O'Hara League Cup final with a 4-1 win over Saltdean last night.

Poole headed Sidley into a third minute lead from Peter Baker's cross to get the ball rolling at the Caburn and ten minutes later his towering header from Wayne Farrier's free kick was bundled over the line by Baker.

A young Saltdean side rarely threatened although John King hit the crossbar on 18 minutes.

Poole headed his second goal of the game to further increase Sidley's lead on 58 minutes from an Adam Day corner but the Tigers replied when substitute Ian Costello turned the ball home from close range on 67 minutes.

Jimmy Watson's volley from Paul Sully's cross on 74 minutes rounded off the scoring although Sidley's introduction of substitute Peter Heritage almost paid off as he had a goalbound shot cleared off the line with his first touch.
