Uckfield jet off on tour to Barbados today with their place in the sun guaranteed for next season.

Skipper Phil Rowland guided his side to a 42-12 win at Royal & Sun Alliance which tied up the Sussex One title and a place in the regional leagues.

Rowland led the way with four tries from full back, with his wingers Nick Crane and Steve Ambrose also going over.

Leigh Bialik completed the tally with two penalties and three conversions Rowland, whose side still have the Intermediate Shield final to look forward to, said; "It has been a combination of hard work and good structured training.

"We have used 45 players in the first team and they have all contributed."

Tries from David Price and Neil McDonald gave RSA a shortlived 12-8 lead.

Second-placed Hastings & Bexhill have a month to prepare for their promotion play-off after rounding off the league season with a 60-0 stroll at Newick.

Outside half Mark Patmore stole the show with three superb tries. There were two scores for No.8 Steve McManus with Greg Stokes, Dave Milham, Colin Brooks, Paul Sandeman and Steve Kimber also going over. Sandeman added five conversions.

Hastings are likely to face Betteshanger or Guy's Hospital from Kent One with a place in the regional leagues at stake.

Paul Todd struck twice in UC Chichester's 20-10 defeat of Seaford. Matt Hayes added a try and Simon Swadling kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Skipper Bruce Brooker produced a clever first half try, a conversion and penalty as Crowborough beat Pulborough 22-10.

The hosts went ahead when Brooker's penalty fell short and Lawrence Ross followed up to score. Brooker converted before Danny Martin put Tony Franks in for the final try.

Ed Rydon scored an interception try for Pulborough with Jonny Page landing a penalty and a conversion.

Pete Mason's try hat-trick helped Horsham win 29-8 at Hellingly. Andy Stone also crossed with Paul Thurston adding three conversions and a penalty.

Hove are still in danger of slipping into the Sussex leagues but they did their survival chances a power of good by beating Park House 29-10 in Four South East.

The pack impressed, with tries for back row trio John Oades, Darryl Elliott and Ali Karn, lock Paul Crichton and outstanding prop Ryan Storer. Skipper Phil Ward converted two and said: "The forwards gave us the stability we needed."

Eastbourne's Andy Moore scored a super try on his comeback in a spirited 36-21 defeat at Dartfordians.

Mark Ashworth's score, a penalty try and three conversions by Moore completed their tally.

Makeshift Bognor beat Heathfield 29-7, with 49-year-old hooker Mike Lewin coming through the full game with flying colours.

Flanker Sean Lysaght enhanced his chances of a call-up for Sunday's Trophy semi by scoring three tries.

Two scores from Ben Sole helped in-form Sussex Police ease past Ditchling 37-10 in Sussex Two East.

Rob Blackett, Alex Aspinell, Steve Hill, Paul Howes and an interception score from skipper Lawrence Dando rounded things off. Second row man Phil Nicholas thumped over a conversion.

Arun were 32-23 winners at Midhurst in Sussex Two West while Norfolk Arms defeated Wingspan 24-17.

Worthing have missed out on a promotion play-off by a single point.

They ended their season in style with an impressive 20-13 win at second placed Sidcup in London Three South East.

Alan Brace, Tony Cruz and Terry Butler scored tries with Ben Coulson adding a conversion and a penalty as the Sussex side impressed up front.

Skipper Mike Imrie admitted: "This year has been another missed opportunity for us.

"We wished Sidcup well after the game and we hope they go up, but it's got to happen soon for us after so many near misses."

Imrie made his comeback from a troublesome knee injury and expects to be fit for Sunday's Trophy semi against Eastbourne.

He admitted: "I was a bit off the pace but I had to get back into it at some point."

East Grinstead will finish fourth if they win at lowly Cranbrook on Saturday.

They came from 6-0 down to beat Charlton Park 15-11, helped by scores from Rob McGee and Jim Trantham.

Player-coach Ray Hennessy rounded things off with a typical strike from ten yards out.

Crawley, who lost 25-12 at Cranbrook, will face relegation if they fail to win at home to Lewes.

Even then, they will need a favour from East Grinstead at Cranbrook to help save them.

Lewes are finishing the season on a high note.

Their first team's 24-7 home success over Brighton was the highlight of a great afternoon which saw all three of their men's teams win.

Carl Payne and Richard Siggs scored first half tries.

Duncan Barton and Bob Jackson got over after the break, with the tally completed by Huw James's two conversions.
