I sympathise with Mrs Gillespie of Ovingdean. I have lived in Portslade Old Village for about ten years and walk my dog twice a day on the village green.
I always clear up after him and so do most people I see walking their dogs there. But lately it has been covered in dogs' mess, presumably by local people's dogs.
It is not the sort of place you would walk your dog unless you were local.
I don't enjoy walking my dog there any more because I sometimes get the evil eye from people who probably think my dog is one of the culprits.
It bothers me so much now that when I lose my dog, much as I have enjoyed having him, I probably won't get another.
I suggest anyone caught letting a dog foul and leaving it for others to step in be made to do community service by going to these parks and picking up every bit of poop they see for a month. Fines are no deterrent.
