Brighton are the top league in Sussex. They dominated the final stages of the inter-league championship at the Connaught Club, Worthing.

As both their teams reached the final, Crawley and Hastings were left to fight out the minor placings.

Brighton A eventually triumphed, beating Brighton B 15-9, but they had to come back from 5-1 down, winning seven out of the next ten games to take control.

Pete Ashman, Paul McNeil and Jon Sanders won three out of three, Paul Bailey two out of two and Damian Campsey two out of three. Andreas Emmanuel won both his games and Nick Pearson and John Cairns two out of three for Brighton B.

Hastings finished in third place after edging out Craw-ley 14-13 after Crawley had led for most of the match.

In the deciding game, Alan Morton, of Crawley, potted all of his balls before rattling the black. Glen Newton then played two snookers before clinching the match for Hastings.

Paul Fowler won two out of two and Paul Davis, Rob Beaumont, Kevin Bodle, Joe Pocknell and Newton two out of three. For Crawley, Derek Barnes won three out of three, Ben Gardner two out of two and Mark Jacobs, Nigel Teague and Morton two out of three.

Brighton A also had a scare in their semi-final, trailing 7-3 before coming back to defeat Crawley 15-10.

Paul Bailey won two out of two and Paul Nicholas, Paul McNeil, Damian Camp-sey, Jon Sanders and Morray Dolan two out of three. Lib Vallance won all three of his games for Crawley and Mark Jacob two out of three.

Brighton B were also four down against Hastings but hit back to run out 15-11 winners.

Clive Rayson and Brendan Wheeler both won three out of three and Alan Foster, Brian Williams and Les Sanders two out of three. For Hastings, Paul Davis, Neil Bennett, Rob Beaumont and Paul Bowers won two out of three.
