I was very surprised that the 15-year-old youth who destroyed the 30th Brighton Scout hut in my ward of Patcham received only a two-year supervision order when the cost of rebuilding and providing new equipment will be £160,000.
The Scouts have been paying the full insurance premium demanded by Brighton and Hove Council.
If the cover was insufficient, it is a matter for the Council and the 30th Brighton Scout Group should be reimbursed the full cost of reinstating what was destroyed.
