Sammy Donnelly praised the manner of Worthing's performance after in-form Whyteleafe held them to a goalless division one draw at Woodside Road.

The Rebels manager said: "It was the best we played since we drew 2-2 away at Braintree before Christmas. The only thing that was displeasing was the result.

"Whyteleafe had won their previous five games, but we looked solid and compact and my keeper only had one save to make."

Ben Carrington twice forced Whyteleafe goalkeeper Matt Martin to save superbly in the first half.

Worthing, winners of only one of their last six home league games, have now gone seven matches without a win in league and cup.

Rebels goalkeeper Lee Preston came to his side's rescue on his league debut by thwarting Dean Lock late on.

A hat-trick from Gary Charman inspired HORSHAM to a 5-1 win at bottom-placed Leighton Town in division two.

The hosts took the lead through Danny Power after 25 minutes.

It took a piece of individual brilliance from Charman to finally bring Horsham to life when he equalised with a solo effort after 34 minutes.

Charman added his second after 62 minutes and his completed his hat-trick 14 minutes later. Steve Payne made it 4-1 on 78 minutes and Steve Flain completed the scoring after 82 minutes.

An excellent display of goalkeeping and a last-minute penalty miss denied LEWES at eighth consecutive division three victory as they fought out a goalless draw at home to Witham Town.

Chris Kreihn denied Warren Bagnall and Richard Hudson twice after the interval.

Bagnall was sent off for dissent two minutes from time after being chopped down by Ross Wareham who pulled down Paul Thomsett in the area, but Hudson saw his penalty saved by Kreihn.
