I was appalled to read Stuart Bower's excuse for the disgraceful standard of car driving on Britain's roads that causes motorcycle casualties as "there but for the grace of God go I" (December 19). Why draw the line at motorcycles?

Surely cyclists and pedestrians would best be banned from the streets so car drivers such as Mr Bower can have them to themselves?

Has he considered the alternative solution of learning to drive properly?

It's not speed that kills, Mr Bower. It's incompetence, lack of concentration and selfishness.
