Since I came to live in Worthing almost 12 months ago, I am alarmed that not once have I or my wife seen police patrolling Worthing streets.

After 6pm our local station closes down for the day. For a town the size of Worthing this is a disgrace.

Police assistance then has to be sent by way of radio cars despatched from Lewes.

Why are we paying local taxes for a police service which is failing the community it is supposed to represent?

Why does Worthing Borough Council do nothing about our poor police service?

It could at least support the general feeling within the borough and request the Chief Constable of Sussex to do something constructive.

In this way it would support all the responsible citizens who voted it into office and additionally those honest and industrious people who come here to work.

Police forces are rapidly becoming all spin and no delivery. Chief constables are seemingly quite happy for their officers to sit in police cars away from the public view.

Why not let us see the presence of our police constables back on the beat, preventing crime and keeping the peace.
