Crawley coach Brian Owen looked on the bright side after his men drew 0-0 at home to Margate in the premier division.

Reds created few chances, the best of which saw Francis Vines head straight at the goalkeeper on 67 minutes.

Owen said: "Not a lot of teams will beat Margate this season and on the plus side, we have not lost any more ground to Burton today."

In the first half, Reds had two good penalty shouts turned down as Matt Woolf and Scott Mean appeared to be fouled.

As referee Couzens waved away the second appeal, the ball ran to Vines, who saw his effort saved and blasted the rebound into the side netting.

Nine-man St Leonards claimed a hard-earned 0-0 draw away to near neighbours Hastings Town.

Saints had two players sent off in the second half of a disappointing derby at the Pilot Field but still managed to hold on for a point.

Keith Miles was shown red midway through the second half for a reckless lunge on Steve Yates just nine minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Central defender Adam Flanagan followed soon after for the second of two cautions.

Delighted Saints manager Andy Thomson said: "Hastings were on top for most of the game but we knew that was going to happen."

Hastings only had themselves to blame for not taking the points.

Yates twice had only the keeper to beat but hit the post with one effort and blazed over with the other. Paul Jones also struck the woodwork.

Langney Sports made it six wins out of six with a hard-fought 1-0 success against Ashford Town at Priory Lane.

John Snelgrove's strike was enough to win a battle between the form teams in the eastern division.

Liam Barham put John Westcott through and his deep cross was met by Snelgrove at the far post for the 28th minute clincher.
