It is amazing in a week when the Labour Government cancelled the debt of developing nations to help tackle poverty around the world, the Conservatives could not send one single MP to a Government-initiated debate in the House of Commons on how to tackle poverty in Britain.
It is amazing too that as the Government's New Deal last week achieved its target of getting more than three-quarters of the young unemployed back into work, the Conservatives again branded it "a waste of money".
What's perhaps less amazing is how fast the Conservatives are losing support by promising to cut £16 billion from spending on schools and hospitals, with a poll last week showing them 15 per cent behind Labour and William Hague with a popularity rating of minus 23 per cent among voters nationwide.
