I am afraid that Neil Massey of Cafe 101 in Trafalgar Street is mistaken when he directs his "huge raspberry" over the absence of Christmas lights at his end of the street at Brighton and Hove Council.

The council makes a contribution of about half the cost of Christmas lights, but the Town Centre Business Forum actually organise where they go in consultation with local traders organisations.

The North Laines display has been expanded considerably this year - including Trafalgar Street, but it would have been difficult to extend down to Cafe 101 because there are only buildings on one side of the road at this point and the lights are suspended from steel cables attached to buildings on both sides of the road.

Of course we are always happy to work with traders to try to overcome problems and we will be inviting Neil to join our Christmas campaign group next year.

Some months ago in one of the letters to the editor, a request was made for tokens from McVitie products for school maths equipment. I now have a collection of these tokens but cannot remember the address to which they should be sent.

If any reader has such a record perhaps they would be kind enough to let me know.
