Cocktail king Alan Love has concocted the perfect drink for drivers to enjoy this Christmas.

Among the tempting tipples on offer at Shooters in Marine Parade, Brighton, is one that provides just the right mix for those planning on driving home.

The Argus Driver offers all the taste of the famous screwdriver cocktail, less one potentially lethal ingredient - alcohol.

Shooters owner Alan Love today added the tipple to his menu and was briefing staff on how to mix it.

The Driver, which is available at the bar throughout Christmas and New Year, features a delicious mix of orange, grenadine, coconut, cream and the yolk of an egg. Its inventor, Mr Love, is confident it will prove irresistible to drivers.

He said: "We are delighted to back the Don't Drink and Drive campaign by adding this special drink to our menu.

"We already offer quite a few non-alcoholic cocktails so there is no excuse for people to drink and drive.

"We don't want our customers taking risks because they have had too much alcohol.

"These days, people are more sensible and less worried about going to the pub and not drinking alcohol. We quite often get groups in and with a designated driver who doesn't drink."

We have teamed up with Caffyns, East Sussex County Council, Brighton and Hove Council and Sussex Police to run the campaign.

Its aim is to cut drink-driving on the county's roads this winter.
