Some praise for Brighton and Hove Council's services.
Recently I noticed on a corner, near a pedestrian crossing at the Old Steine, a loose kerbstone protruding several inches above the pavement. Anyone tripping on this could have fallen in front of traffic.
Using the council's Pocket Guide, I rang the hotline and described the problem.
When I next passed the spot only two days later the kerbstone had been fixed.
This was an excellent response and it may have been even quicker since, when I rang to thank the officers, they said they had treated it as an emergency.
So it does pay to ask, and the 'faceless ones' do take notice and act.
