Councillor Keith Taylor's claim that existing bus and train services have the capacity to deliver 53 million people to Brighton just goes to show how far removed from reality his party really is (Opinion, November 13).
Does he realise the train service isn't delivering anyone anywhere at the moment, and even before the current crisis its record has been abysmal for over a decade. Locally, ousting Connex for the equally inept Govia the operators of Thameslink, is unlikely to improve the situation.
As for the buses service, so many services have been cut that people are now just turning up at bus stops in the hope something will eventually turn up. Coun Taylor admits as much when he says we need more initiatives to encourage people to use public transport, such as regular and reliable buses.
