A cyclist fears she will never be able to ride a bike again after an horrific accident left her suffering still months later.

Susan Emmerson, 55, was riding home from work down Terminus Road by Brighton railway station when a pedestrian stepped in front of her and clipped her wheel.

She lost control and her bike toppled over. Still on the bike, she slid down the road on her side.

Susan, a receptionist at Standard Life's offices in Dyke Road, suffered severe injuries to her shoulder.

She spent nine days in hospital and has since had a replacement shoulder joint fitted because her injuries were so severe.

Susan, of Blake Street, Brighton, still has severe restriction in the movement of her arm and is having further treatment.

She said: "I don't expect I'll be able to ride a bike for a long while, if ever.

"I can't stretch my arm out to reach the handle bars and I have no grip to apply the brakes.

"For the last 12 years I've cycled to work but now I have to walk."

She said the pedestrain stepped out as she cycled past stationary cars waiting at lights in Terminus Road.

Susan said: "The man who stepped out was very apologetic but no one got his name or details.

"I know it was a long time ago, but I am hoping one of the motorists in the queue remembers the incident.

The accident happened at 5.15pm on July 25 Susan hopes the sight of her sliding down the road still attached to her bike will help jog some memories.
