After the Remembrance Sunday parade at the Steine at Brighton, I was shocked and surprised when I returned to my car, which was parked in Marine Drive, to discover I had been given a parking ticket.
Apparently I was one of many booked that day.
According to my ticket, the offence occurred at about the time the two minutes' silence had been observed and the wreaths were being laid.
While I admit ignorance about whether parking charges should be paid on Marine Drive on Sundays, I think the officer was over-zealous.
I presume there were veterans, members of the Royal British Legion and others who paraded who will have received tickets while remembering the millions lost in wars in the past century.
Surely the officer could have applied an element of common sense and only booked cars parked after the service was completed?
