Sussex Police officer Teresa Sykes is swapping her uniform for a swimming costume next month to race for her country.
The Eastbourne-based constable has been picked to join the Great Britain police team which is competing against teams from France, Germany and Sweden.
The event, in Barnet, will test Teresa's abilities in the 100-metre butterfly and the medley relay.
Her colleagues in Sussex, writing in the force magazine Patrol, have already acclaimed Teresa as a "swimming sensation".
The 28-year-old, originally from Brighton, has two cabinets filled with more than 100 medals won since she started competitive swimming at the age of nine.
She recently starred in the annual triangular match between the civil service, the combined armed forces and the police, held at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire.
She won gold in the 100 metre butterfly by 1.5 seconds, and then volunteered to take part in the backstroke over the same distance. The event is not her forte but she still took third place.
