Forget cheek to cheek - sports hero Jimmy Hill came chin to chin with his statuesque alter ego at a Sussex golf club.

Jimmy was hosting a celebrity golf match to raise cash for a children's charity when he was confronted with his sculpted likeness.

Famous faces, including Dennis Waterman and Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards, thronged the green at Chart-ham Park Golf Club, East Grinstead, in support of the charity SPARKS, which uses sporting events to help raise money for medical research to help sick and disabled children.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "Backed by Britain's leading sports personalities, SPARKS (sport aiding medical research for kids) funds vital children's medical research to help find cures for conditions such as bone disease, brain damage in babies and childhood cancer."

The golf day, co-organised by Canon and the firm Anglo Dealer Development Services, raised £32,000.
