Wedding guests trashed hotel rooms and were involved in a fight during a night of chaos on Brighton seafront.

Violence flared at a wedding reception at the Queen's Hotel in King's Road at about 12.30am yesterday.

Staff called police after a fight began between two of the guests although the incident was over by the time they arrived.

Officers were then called at about 6am to The West Beach Hotel where some of the party were trashing three hotel rooms.

A door and frame were smashed, carpets were wrecked, a window broken and mattresses and bedding were left covered in cigarette burns and urine.

Head housekeeper Stacey Paczensky said the damage could run into thousands of pounds.

"I have never seen rooms like this before, they are filthy and dirty and we will probably have to turn guests away who have already booked."

Jocelyne Hogan, a spokeswoman for the hotel, in King's Road, said the group had been drinking all night when trouble flared.

She also criticised police who came to the hotel but made no arrests.

Miss Hogan said: They had drunk so much and one of the guests reported they were kicking their doors in. The police did nothing because they said they had no witnesses and didn't see anyone doing it."

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said no arrests were made in either incident and added that allegations of criminal damage were being investigated.

Alison McGrady, general manager at the Queen's Hotel, said: "There was nothing major and it was just business as usual today."
