Not only is Tarmac unsightly but, unlike the cracks between paving stones, it does not allow water to reach tree roots, with the result that these rise to the surface and not only cause further cracks, but also put the tree at risk of dying.
Would that Brighton and Hove had a council that takes an interest in such details.
