A teenager threatened to blow up his mother and stepfather's home during a row, a court heard.

Wesley Mills violently attacked his stepfather and when police arrived he brandished kitchen knives and he warned officers he would slit their throats.

Mills, 19, of Merevale, Brighton, admitted charges of affray, making threats to kill and making threats to commit criminal damage when he appeared before Brighton magistrates.

Andrew Walker, prosecuting, told the court violence broke out at the house in Crown Road, Portslade, on May 12.

Mills punched his stepfather and then tried to strangle him.

When his mother tried to stop him, Mills pushed her away and she fell hitting her head on a radiator.

Mills then took a knife from the kitchen and brandished it at police who arrived.

Magistrates committed him to Lewes Crown Court for sentence.

He was remanded in

custody.
