Scott Ramsay made it high fives for Albion last night with his first senior goals.

The teenager from Hastings struck twice in the second half to round off a 5-2 mauling of depleted Macclesfield at Withdean. It was perfect timing from the kid nicknamed 'Rambo' by his team-mates, with manager Micky Adams planning to sign a loan striker before tomorrow's transfer deadline.

"This has come just at the right time," Ramsay said. "I think I have proved he can use me and hopefully I can stick a few more goals in now. I am absolutely delighted with my two goals and to play well and for us to win.

"It has been very frustrating not to score, but when I have come on as a sub I've tried my best and worked hard. Things have not been going for me. I missed a couple of chances earlier in the season which I should have put away, so it is nice to get off the mark at last."

Adams said: "It would have been easy for me to have left Scott out and put Darren Freeman alongside Gary Hart, but I wanted to give him confidence and the only way I could do that was by picking him. I am absolutely delighted for the boy. All he needed was a goal, because I was very pleased with his performance at Lincoln last Saturday.

"He had missed a couple of chances which had knocked his confidence, but he has come back with a bang and you cannot ask any more of a 19-year-old. He has given me food for thought, but I am still working to bring a player in. I feel we are a body light and it's easier for a new man to settle in when things are going well."

Top scorer Darren Freeman was also on target twice, the first a penalty, and Gary Hart fired his eighth of the season as Albion made it five wins out of six and 16 points from the last 18.

They have moved up three places to 12th and are now just six points adrift of the play-offs ahead of Saturday's trip to Barnet.
