Two late strikes by Gus Hurdle and Francis Vines earned Crawley a vital 2-0 win at fellow Premier Division strugglers Dorchester.

Supersub Vines made one and scored one after replacing out-of-sorts Clinton Moore. Reds boss Billy Smith was delighted. He said: "It was a hard game and we got our reward for the commitment that we showed.

"Their keeper kept them in it at times but we were committed to the cause and that is what we want. Keith Sharman won everything in the air and Francis Vines changed the game when he came on. It was a terrific team performance. I think the lads are a bit more relaxed away from home now and the support was superb as it has been on the road all season."

Moore, Sharman, Jay Lovett, Hurdle and Dean Wordsworth, twice, missed chances before Vines set up Hurdle for the opener in the 79th minute, just six minutes after coming on. Just four minutes later, Vines headed home from a Lovett throw, with skipper John Ugbah making sure on the line.

Hastings moved into fourth place in the Eastern Division with a 2-1 win at Corby. Corby's Jermaine Rainford opened the scoring when he fired inside the far post from 15 yards after eight minutes.

Hastings were soon back on level terms when midfielder Stuart Myall finished off a good move from just inside the area. Hastings grabbed their second goal just five minutes after the re-start. Paul Jones found Myall and his angled shot beat goalkeeper Kevin Fox and went in off the far post.

Myall came close to completing his hat-trick but Fox cleared off the line and recent signing Chris Honey almost scored his first goal for the club.

One piece of magic from Simon Fox earned St Leonards a 1-0 win they scarcely deserved against Witney Town at the Firs.

Witney dominated the first half and went close again after the interval. Saints manager Andy Thomson said: "Last week we played well and we were unlucky to lose, this week we played badly and we were lucky to win, but they do say things even out over the season."

Thomson sent on John Rattray as a third striker and his cross was brought down and volleyed home by Fox.
