Brighton racecourse executive has appointed experienced steward and horseman Christopher Hall as a non-executive director.

Hall has been a Jockey Club member for ten years and has served a three-year stint on the disciplinary cCommittee of the club.

He has also acted as a race day steward at Plumpton, Folkestone and Ascot and will join the Goodwood Stewards' panel this year.

Hall gained race riding experience as an amateur and now trains point-to-pointers in Kent. He is also involved in other equine activities such as the Olympia Horse Show, the Arab Racing Committee and is a part chairman of the South of England Agricultural Society.

Ian Fry, managing director of Haywards Heath travel agents Horse Racing Abroad, is pleased with the response to his "Ultimate Round The World Racing Tour" for next autumn.

The price of £13,750 for a 25-night trip was high by any standards and Ian, who had chartered a Boeing 757, was out on a limb if he did not get any takers.

Now, three months later, Fry has had to change the aircraft to a much bigger Tristar and close the trip with 88 passengers and a dozen more on the waiting list!.

He said: "I had no idea how it would go. I am delighted with the response and we're going to have the journey of a lifetime for racing fans."
