A decision will be taken tonight on which community groups will receive grants from their local council.
Up to 16 voluntary organisations are in line for grants totalling £20,000 from Adur District Council. But some will be disappointed because the amount the groups have applied for from the revenue grant aid budget amounts to £29,300.
Two more have asked for capital grant aid funds totalling £2,300 from a budget for the next financial year of £5,000. The money is needed to help support the vital work of community groups for the elderly, people with learning difficulties, young people and groups providing information and support.
Southwick Community Association's senior citizens' lunch club has applied for £1,100 to help pay some of the running costs of the club, which has 50 members. And Hove, Shoreham and Portslade Victim Support, which helps the victims of crime, is asking for £700 to help with costs and to train volunteers.
The applications will be considered by the council's grant aid sub-committee when it meets at Adur Civic Centre, Ham Road, Shoreham, at 7pm.
