Gary Evans, looking to the future, has formed his own company arranging golf days.

The Rustington-born and based Tour pro, who celebrated his 31st birthday this week, has set up a business aimed at the lucrative corporate market.

Recently back from the Australian circuit with his young family, Evans is putting the finishing touches to Tour Pro Golf Clinics. Next week it goes on the web.

Evans said: "I looked around and there was nobody doing what I had in mind on a pro scale. There is a business to be had in this field and I have brought together my sponsors Calloway, Odyssey and Hugo Boss to specialise in company days for a maximum of 30 days a year.

"Guaranteed is a minimum of two Tour pros a day with breakfast, a clinic and coaching followed by a round of golf and three-course meal."

Most of the sessions will be at Mill Rise, the Ascot club where Gary has an attachment. He has targeted a host of companies for golf days and signed up 14 pros including Richard Boxall, Roger Chapman and Tony Johnstone. Also featured will be the Calloway demonstration team.

To widen the appeal, Gary is to talk with women pros including Goodwood twins Sam and Jo Head.

Evans said: "The sponsors are happy and the companies are happy. The feedback is extremely good and we took our first booking last week. Our first day will be in June. Half a dozen companies have intimated a willingness to do more than one day. One company wants to do a day a month."

Branching out gives Evans a useful string to his bow. While he has no intention of giving up the day job, it is a good bet to have something else to fall back on. He more than covered his expenses in Australia, but failed to make the cuts in Malaysia and Penina.

Next week sees Gary off to Dubai and Qatar and then comes a first trip to Brazil for the Rio and Sao Paulo Opens.
