The Seagulls will only be without their top scorer for one more match and Adams is now reluctant to sign a replacement.

"Having watched us over the last couple of games I think we can get away with it," he said.

"Dave Cameron put himself about when he came on against Peterborough, which is the way I want him to perform, and Scott Ramsay is doing everything asked of him."

Freeman's three-match suspension ends with Sunday's visit to Macclesfield. He will be available for the trip to Plymouth on Saturday week in the second round of the FA Cup.

Rod Thomas has deputised for Freeman in the last two games against Hartlepool and Peterborough.

He was taken off in the second half both times, but Adams said: "I wouldn't think there will be too many changes on Sunday. It would be a little bit harsh to chop and change. I am a great believer in continuity."

Peterborough are counting the cost of their 3-0 FA Cup exit on Tuesday in more ways than one.

They face a £280 bill for repairs to the dressing room door from Ecovert, the company responsible for running Withdean.

Stadium manager Dave Baker revealed: "At the end of the game a Peterborough player put his foot through the door.

"They will receive a bill for the damage. We appreciate players get frustrated when they come off, but kicking doors is not really what we want them to do."
