And now her long-suffering mum Sonia has been given confirmation of what she always suspected - her daughter is a real-life Dennis the Menace.

Roxanne, 11, has been playing pranks on her family since she was a toddler.

When she was only four, she hacked off her beautiful ringlets and dumped them in the kitchen bin.

Ayear later she decided to make an unusual breakfast treat and emptied a box of cornflakes into the tumble dryer to give them an almighty stir.

Roxanne has now been voted one of the country's top-ten mini-menaces by cable channel Fox Kids.

Naughty

Sonia said: "I always said she was the naughtiest girl in the world, and here's the proof."

The 36-year-old mum of six, from Falmer Close, Brighton, knew her daughter would be the ideal entrant for the competition.

She said: "It asked for parents to nominate kids who behaved just like Dennis the Menace, and said children would only be judged on their past misdeeds."

"Although Roxanne has calmed down a lot now there is no way I can forget the years of hell we all went through when she was a toddler."

But Sonia is not the only one who suffered.

Neighbours, friends and relatives also went running for cover when Roxanne appeared.

Sonia said: "She loved to sneak her way into other peoples' houses and then head straight for their bathrooms.

"She would empty all their shampoo, talc and perfume in the bath like in George and his Marvellous Medicine."

Roxanne's older sister was another victim.

Jody, 14, a pupil alongside Roxanne at Falmer School, Brighton, painfully remembers her sister's first prank.

She said: "I woke up early one morning because I heard a noise. As I got out of bed I saw something fly towards me and then I felt a bang on my head.

"Roxanne had thrown her roller skate at me and then continued to sit playing as if nothing had happened."

But frustrated Sonia finds it hard to get angry with Roxanne because of her puppy eyes and sweet smile.

She said: "Once she ran in from the garden with a paint of red gloss tipped all over her head.

"Although it was very naughty she did look extremely funny and we couldn't help but laugh.

Adventurous

"She's a very popular girl and a very likeable character. I think it's her adventurous spirit which gets her in the most trouble. It's hard to punish her for that."

But the whole family did despair when Roxanne spoilt the best Christmas surprise - two years running!

Sonia wrapped up hundreds of presents and kept them in huge sacks hidden in the cupboard the day before Christmas Eve.

But the next morning the family discovered Roxanne surrounded by a sea of paper playing with all the toys meant for her brothers and sisters.

Sonia said: "I think I could fill a book with all her tricks."

Roxanne said: "I used to be very naughty just like Dennis, but I think I'm quite well-behaved now. It was loads of fun entering the competition and it was great meeting lots of other naughty menaces."
