POLICE were today still hunting a rapist who struck in Brighton on Saturday night.

He grabbed his 18-year-old victim in Sutherland Road, forced her into an alley and threatened to kill her.

The girl managed to scream once but was forced to stop after being threatened again.

She had enjoyed an evening out in Brighton with friends and was walking in Sutherland Road at midnight when the man approached her.

Det Con Jason Feltham said: "He started chatting to her then he suddenly grabbed her round the throat and dragged her into the alley.

"The woman was terrified and is still deeply distressed today. It is vital we catch this man."

Police think the victim was followed before the attack.

She had travelled home on a 1A bus which arrived outside the Gala bingo hall in Eastern Road at about 11.30pm.

Police want to speak to anyone on the bus who may have seen anything suspicious.

They also want to talk to a man out with his dog, seen walking past the alley by the victim during the attack.

The rapist was about 25, 5ft 8in, with dark hair. He wore a check shirt, jeans and basketball trainers.
