Mark McGhee is relishing a five-way battle between his strikers to lead Albion's attack in the Championship.

Colin Kazim-Richards, the Coca-Cola Kid signed from Bury in the summer, scored his first goal for the Seagulls in last night's 4-3 friendly win at Worthing.

The 18-year-old combined well with Leon Knight in the first half, with both players hitting the bar.

Kazim-Richards and Knight could form an exciting little-and-large double act if they get the nod on opening day at Derby County.

But Chris McPhee also got off the mark last night by winning and converting a penalty and McGhee insists striking places are up for grabs.

The Albion boss said: "The first half, hopefully, gave people a flavour of what Colin might do for us.

"I thought his performance with Leon was exciting but no one should read anything into that either.

"That's not established. Mark McCammon, Chris McPhee and Jake Robinson have all got a say in that.

"They've all got their opportunity in these next pre-season games to prove that any combination of two of them should be starting against Derby.

"Although Leon and Colin combined well, it's only a start."

Jason Dodd, the summer signing from Southampton, got his first run out Albion, playing at right back in the first half, in which the Seagulls kept a clean sheet.
