It's the end of the world as Royston Vasey knows it.

There's a storm a-brewing over this deeply dysfunctional community and the omens are not good. An ancient prophecy foretells the complete destruction of the village and the reason for Armageddon is obvious - the comedy troupe known as The League Of Gentlemen has forsaken its fictional creations, condemning the rural community and its deranged denizens to oblivion.

The only hope is for the Royston Vasey adventurers to travel into the real world and persuade the writers to resurrect the comedy.

The film benefits greatly from an appreciation of the cult television series, with all of the most popular residents present and politically incorrect.

The action opens in glorious fashion with a fabulous mobile phone gag - it's so good, in fact, the writers recycle it later.

It's downhill from there, with disappointingly few belly laughs and not a great deal of chuckles as reality and fiction collide.
