She shot to fame as naturist nymph Willow in the cult horror flick Wicker Man (despite her famous insistence that "that was not my bum") and became best known as bikini-wearing Bond girl Mary Goodnight in The Man With The Golden Gun (that definitely was her bum).

Now Britt Ekland is acting as the celebrity bait in daredevil farce Just Desserts - but hers seems to be the only character intent on keeping their clothes on.

Set in Paris, the new play by West End hit writer Marc Camoletti is a tale of mistaken identity, drunken impropriety and cat-and-mouse antics.

Transformed from the French by Tudor Gates, it follows in the wake of Boeing Boeing (about a man trying to juggle his three air hostess fiancees) and the highly successful Don't Dress For Dinner, whose plot followed much the same lines as this one.

Bernard discovers his wife Jacqueline is having an affair with his friend Robert. Anxious for revenge, Bernard invites him to dinner with the intention of seducing Robert's wife Juliette.

Realising he may well meet a grisly end if Juliette fails to deliver, Robert complies by hiring a high-class hooker, Barbara, to stand in for his wife. Just as dinner is served, however, his real wife arrives on the scene, interrupting their meal and confounding all of their plans.

Alongside Ekland as the bewigged and bewildered latecomer, Just Desserts stars Bread's Giles Watling as the jealous husband Bernard, Sabina Franklyn of Keep It In The Family as his cheating wife Jacqueline, and Malandra Burrows, who leaves behind her 17-year run as Kathy Glover in Emmerdale, as slinkily dressed escort Barbara.

"It's not just a slapstick, frilly knickers and corsets farce," she says. "It's a farce and a thriller running in parallel - brand new and very original."
