Albion manager Mark McGhee today pleaded for patience from the travelling army.

The Seagulls will have up to 3,000 fans roaring them on at relegated Rotherham tomorrow in their quest for Championship survival.

Albion's 12 victories this season have all been achieved by a single goal margin.

Most of the goals conceded by Rotherham have been in the second half, so McGhee is expecting another tight match at Millmoor.

"There is no reason for us to go into this game thinking we are suddenly going to become a team able to win 4-0," he said. "That is not realistic.

"It might be better but I think the best that we can hope for and the best we should be planning for is to win 1-0.

"That should not be confused, either by the players or the fans, with playing at a slow tempo.

"Patience is about continuing to do what we think is right at the right tempo for as long as it takes to get the breakthrough, not throwing your strategy out of the window because for 30 minutes it is 0-0.

"We will be trying to set a high tempo in the game, to be aggressive and go forward and if it takes us an hour or 90 minutes to get a breakthrough then so be it."

McGhee likens tomorrow's occasion to last season's play-off semi-final first leg at Swindon, when Richard Carpenter scored the only goal with 18 minutes left.

"It is a good analogy," he said. "That should hold us in good stead, knowing we can go somewhere in a game like that and get a result.

"It is going to be about having the bottle to see it go the distance."

McGhee is expected to make one change to the team which held West Ham to a 2-2 draw at Withdean last Saturday.

Gary Hart is poised to start on the right after coming straight on to set up Dean Hammond's first equaliser.

That would mean Paul Reid reverting to rightback at the expense of Adam El-Abd.
