Tourism businesses are signing up to meet stringent new environmental standards and prove their green credentials.
Some 35 hotels and visitor attractions based around the South Downs are taking part in the pilot Green Tourism Business Scheme.
Accreditation involves a rigorous examination of business practices and commitment to sustainability.
Five of the businesses operating in the Lewes district have received green accreditation and have been ranked in gold, silver and bronze.
The Silverdale Hotel in Seaford has a gold award, while the Settlands bed and breakfast in Kingston, the Knowle View bed and breakfast in Lewes and the Three Ponds Holiday Park in Newhaven all have silver awards. The Dairy Studios in Lewes has a bronze.
