John Crumplin guided County League minnows Ringmer to a Sussex Senior Cup Final against mighty Conference outfit Crawley.

His giant-killers punched above their weight for the second round running as they overcame Conference south side Bognor thanks to an extra time winner by Luke Gedling at Horsham last night.

Ringmer have already won the RUR Cup this season, and now they are hoping to complete another knock-out success.

They dismissed Ryman premier outfit Worthing in the quarter-final and seemed to want it more than crumbling Rocks.

Crumplin, a member of the last Bognor team to win the County Cup, said: "That was magnificent. Saying we worked hard for it is an understatement. I am proud of all my players.

"I said before the game that they should wipe the floor with us but that's not what I told my players in the dressing room beforehand. They were fired up for it.

"We've beaten two clubs well above us now but Crawley just might be too difficult. Whatever happens, this result is great for the County League."

Bognor got their noses in front in first-half injury time when defender Kevin Murphy headed home a Richard Hudson free kick.

Ringmer equalised just three minutes after the restart when a Chris Johnson free kick caught Bognor napping and left-back Danny Bird popped up on the right-hand side of the area to blast into the roof of the net.

Bognor lost their rhythm and goalkeeper Craig Stoner had to save from Dominic Shepherd and Gareth Green in normal time. But then Gedling slid home the winner on 98 minutes from a Johnson ball and the night was Ringmer's.

Gedling said: "It's fantastic for the club. The whole team deserve credit for how they fought and we're just keeping our fingers crossed for when we face Crawley."

The final will be staged at Eastbourne Borough on Bank Holiday Monday May 2.
