Firstly, congratulations to The Argus on being 125 years old. It is quite a feat to stay afloat for that long in these changing times.

I agree with Jean Kitchener (The Argus, March 30) - what folly to change your name when trying to market yourself as a thriving business with a fantastic and interesting history.

I remember Shoreham Aerodrome was used to film some episodes of Agatha Christie's famous detective Hercule Poirot and much historic memorabilia still adorns its interior.

Surely, given the news that Gatwick is likely to expand to one of the UK's biggest airports it would be better to promote the airport as a compact but dynamic organisation for a specialised field rather than trying to compete with giants.

I was on the original committee that decided which consultants would do the best job of finding an investor who would understand local knowledge and feeling.

The aim was to turn the airport, owned by Worthing and Brighton and Hove City Councils, into a business which did not drain the purses of our residents but maintain the open and green gap. What has happened since?
