Albion manager Mark McGhee today pinpointed the danger posed to the Seagulls' Championship survival prospects by the young striker he tried to sign.

Fellow strugglers Plymouth have extended the loan spell of Dexter Blackstock from Southampton.

The 18-year-old is expected to feature in Saturday's showdown at Home Park after scoring in each of Argyle's last two home games as a substitute against Sheffield United and Crewe.

McGhee wanted to borrow Blackstock earlier in the season. "We tracked him for a while on the recommendation of Gordon Strachan," he revealed.

"I went to watch him in a reserve game at Fulham. I liked him and enquired about him.

"Steve Wigley (ex-Southampton manager) said it was his first game back from injury and he needed a couple of weeks training, so he wasn't available at that point.

"He's a powerful lad with a bit of everything. He can hold the ball up, run at you and score goals.

"I think he is going to be a good player. The one thing he lacks is experience."

Albion's visit to Micky Adams' Coventry, another of their relegation rivals, on April 2 is initially all-ticket for Seagulls supporters.

Albion will receive an allocation of 1,500 tickets, priced £19 adults, £9 senior citizens and £6.50 under 16s.

They are currently accepting postal applications from away scheme members.
