Adam Trimingham thinks people are whinging (The Argus, March 11. They are not.

They are complaining loudly andd they expect to be listened to.

Whinging is what children do when they have no just cause to complain or don't expect to be listened to.

Patcham residents have a genuine complaint about Brighton and Hove City Council's plans to develop the park-and-ride and the north-south bus route over some time.

Councillors appear to think their plan can be imposed on residents, animal lovers, householders and allotment holders.

Further, they have built part of the scheme (the London Road Bus Lane) before publishing details of the proposed park-and-ride and London Road residents have found their area made less safe.

Patcham has already lost a school, a large swimming pool and more than half of a recreation ground in the past 15 years.

Given it is not an area which receives much special attention from the council, is it likely residents will be happy to lose more of their green spaces and amenities? No. And both main parties had better listen.

Specific, not vague, promises of support are needed.
