Gaylon Moore is willing to give one of Worthing Thunder's potential tormentors a major individual accolade.

Moore reckons City of Sheffield Arrows guard Ryan Patten deserves to be EBL player-of-the-year.

But that will not stop the Thunder skipper trying to ruin Patten's hopes of team glory at the Brighton Centre tomorrow.

Thunder meet Arrows in the final of the National Trophy (1pm).

Arrows have already beaten Thunder by one in the cup, when Patten threw up a hit-and-hope buzzer-beater, and a whopping 27 at Worthing in the league.

Moore said: "If I was to vote for player-of-the-year he would get it. He makes them tick.

"They had 18 or 19 threes when they beat us at our place.

"I've spoken to Ryan and he knows it will be different this time. This could be our only chance of silverware and we're playing for keeps.

"I've seen the tape of the last defeat to them and the thing that killed us was transition defence. We need all five back on defence."

Thunder will get a chance to work on their game when Kingston visit in the league tonight (8pm).

Moore admitted: "It's not just any other week. It means a whole lot to us, especially a couple of guys in the team."

Those guys are James Brame and Daniel Hildreth, who return to the venue they called home in their days with Brighton Bears.

Centre Pat Bates also had a spell with Bears this season.

Hildreth and Brame left Brighton in 2001, meaning their last competitive win at the Centre was against Sheffield, albeit it Sharks rather than Arrows.

The back-up guard on that defeated Sharks team was Fab Flournoy, current coach of the Newcastle Eagles, who meet Bears in the BBL Trophy.

Sussex fans will hope Sheffield and Flournoy go home vanquished again.
