Worthing supporters have dipped into their pockets to help keep new striker Lee Charles at the club.

The former QPR, Aldershot and England semi-professional international has made a big impression at Woodside Road, scoring twice in three games since arriving from St Albans.

The Rebels had been keen to keep him but manager Alan Pook was not prepared to bust the club's budget.

However, fans have now clubbed together and offered to pay part of the player's wages which will enable him to stay.

Assistant manager Danny Bloor had talks with Charles and his agent yesterday about a deal and the player has now agreed to stay until the end of the season.

Worthing could give Roy Pook his first start of the season at Leyton tomorrow. Andy Lutwyche is a doubt with a knee problem so Andy Alexander stands by to replace him.
